Privateopps : news update, newest contract, phishing issue
Latest Update :
Dear Participant,
Yes, we are as frustrated over this as you are. Yet another DNS provider closed our account because spam complaints continue to arrive. We are changing them once again, but will soon host our very own DNS server, so this will not be an issue anymore. We expect to have this solution fully implemented by Monday or Tuesday.
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are really not a big issue anymore. What causes the problems now are the many spam complaints that our various service providers get after a blackmailer decided to show us what happens when we don't pay him a randsom.
In the meantime, our site is fully accessible via http:// 209 . 249 . 221 . 43 /
We know, we always tell you not to click on links in emails, but as you can tell from our many other emails, this is indeed our real IP. You can also see that, as always, we have included your Account Number and Username at the top of this email. For added peace of mind, this time we have also included the address we have on file for your account. Malicious users are unlikely to know your Username and Address as they are never made public (the Account Number is, if you refer people).
DNS changes may take up to 24 hours to be detected by your ISP, and so our domain - privateopps.com - may be inaccessible until then.
I sincerely apologize for this inconveniences in the past week. Be rest assured, these shameless attacks on our service will not be tolerated and will not shut down our program. We will continue to work to ensure uninterrupted service, and ask for your patience in the coming days.
As we continue to improve the stability of our system as far as these downtimes are concerned, you may experience the following in the next few days:
* Domain inaccessible - use IP address instead.
* Site down for a few minutes intermediately - even using the IP address.
* Delays in our Support Desk - as we usually receive many emails during downtimes, it will take us a bit longer to get back to you.

Phishing Issue :
Dear Participant,
I apologize for the confusion caused by my last email. Indeed, the IP address that we sent out a few days ago when our domain was not available IS REAL.
You may use the following ways to access the PrivateOpps site:
http:// 209 . 249 . 221 . 43/
or directly to PrivateOpps . com
You can confirm the legitimacy of this email by accessing our site (using the domain) and looking for this post at the News & Updates page. Also note that in real emails from PrivateOpps, we always include your Account Number and Username.
By the way, every now and then people ask how come our IP address looks very similar to ones used by various scams out there. Well, it is simply because PrivateOpps uses the DDoS protection services offered by BlockDos.net, who also happens to host many well-known and respectable sites such as AnyGoldNow (exchanger) and GoldtoCard (popular debit card). For BlockDos's service to work, we must use one of their dedicated gateway servers, which they use to filter our incoming traffic and thus prevent DDoS attacks.
Phishing issue warning :
Dear Participant,
PrivateOpps has received several reports of a new phishing attack that targets our Participants.
According to Wikipedia, "phishing is a form of criminal activity using social engineering techniques, characterized by attempts to fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy person or business in an apparently official electronic communication, such as an email or an instant message."
Users who have received these emails in the past few days report that the emails were made to appear as if they came from us, enticing the user to access "our" website by clicking on a link included in the email. Once clicked, that link takes you to a bogus website that looks very much like ours, but will attempt to record your PrivateOpps account access information by asking you to log-in to your account.
And so we repeat our usual warning:
DO NOT CLICK ON ANY PRIVATEOPPS-RELATED LINKS INCLUDED IN ANY EMAILS THAT YOU RECEIVE.
Never! No matter what the email is telling you, please DO NOT CLICK on any link.
To access our site, ALWAYS type-in our domain in your browser or use a bookmark entry that you KNOW is safe.
Phishing emails will often try to convince you to click on such links by trying to get you excited and impatient ("your account has been suspended", "a big deposit just came in", etc.)
Remember - no matter how convincing it may sound - WE NEVER include links in emails we send out.
